Accomplishments: September 2025

The agenda for this month was to keep hammering at the 101 Things in 1001 Days. I’ve been making a ton of progress in it lately, so I targeted three particular tasks:

  • Finish Tears of the Kingdom
  • Make Art, Schedule Next Tattoo
  • Get My “Emergent” Story Written

Finish Tears of the Kingdom

This was at the top of my list for the month, given that I have a boatload of tasks still to do for the 101 Things in 1001 Days, and I wanted to make progress on this task. That and I have a lot of unfinished video games that I’d like to start blasting through. I came into this month without all five sages (only had two) and no Master Sword, and shit to do. I managed to get the remainder of the sages done, acquire the Master Sword, and started building up supplies and unlocking the Bargainer Statues in the depths. So I didn’t manage to finish it this month, but that’s okay. I made a ton of progress, and I’m happy with that. Fail.

Make Art, Schedule Next Tattoo

Oof. I have a very solid idea for my tattoo, but I need to generate the art in a way that makes sense with all the other art in the same vein that’s come before this. I’ve started the process of getting everything ready, and I’m working on a system for generating new Heptapod-B terms. This is probably going to take longer than I expected. Fail.

Get My “Emergent” Story Written

I did a ton of brainstorming and I felt like I got a good core of a story based around an old scientific idea that has been somewhat debunked. I’ve got a great title, and I’m working on an outline. The concept is sound, it just hinges on my ability to execute on it and execute well. Fail.

Minor/Other Accomplishments

  • Blasted through a lot more things on the 101 Things in 1001 Days list. I’ll be posting about that in a day or two.
  • Replaced the garbage disposal in the kitchen.
  • Read a shit-ton of books.

Reading

Blockers

  • The start of school has been a bit of a hassle to wrap my head around, mostly because Eddy is doing his first hour at the high school and has a much earlier start. This has made things hard, logistically speaking.
  • And speaking of school, when I have the kids, I’m spending an hour or more a night on homework assist. This is problematic because it’s a time suck, and because I feel like I’m doing all the work, so I start to get resentful.

Lessons Learned

  • Never wait to go see your favorite artists perform live. I finally got my chance to see Willie Nelson and Bob Dylan, and neither of them were in good shape. I found myself wondering if that was going to be the last time they performed live. The upside was that Neil Young can still rock the fuck out.
