Accomplishments: March 2026

The early part of this year hadn’t been great for productivity — except for the on-bike training. I think that part of my struggle was to integrate my training time with my other productivity time. Now that I’ve settled into my flow, I’m getting more and more stuff done.

  • Consistent Training
  • Fix My Todoist Plugin
  • Finalize PCAP Prep

Consistent Training

After a solid February, my goal was to continue this in March. I did, but god there were days where I had a horrible case of the I don’t wannas. But I kept at it. Even on the stupid rest week, I did my rides. And I’m feeling better about things than I did. I have a 200km brevet at the end of April, so I guess we’ll see if this is pays off or not. I mean, on the last Sunday of the month I did get out for a road ride that kinda deviated from the plan, but based on how I was performing, I feel fantastic about the direction things are going. WIN.

Fix My Todoist Plugin

If you’re a regular visitor to this site (traffic metrics would indicate you’re not), you’ve seen my right sidebar that has an interface to my Todoist tasks. Nifty. Until Todoist deprecated their two separate APIs (sync/v9, and v2) and nonsensically enough, replaced them with v1. This required some serious rethinking of how the backend for the plugin works. But I got her up and running and everything’s kosher. One of these days, I’ll even get this thing pumped into the WP plugin repo, but probably not until later this year. WIN.

Finalize PCAP Prep

This turned out better than I thought it could. Early in the month, I had a printed syllabus, and on the 19th, I decided to run through the Udemy course one more time, make a bunch of flashcards, and take the practice test a couple of times. I’m ready. WIN.

Minor/Other Accomplishments

  • After the 34.5-hour grind on Neal Stephenson’s The Confusion (audiobook) in February, I was ready for some lighter fare. I blasted through Richard Hooker’s M*A*S*H in fairly short order, and then somehow fell into Shattered Sword, another long slog of an audiobook. Also a fascinating listen, so I’m okay with this.
  • Ordered the generator hub and rim for my gravel bike. I’m in the process of getting it ready for the longer brevets I need to ride this year, and for Paris-Brest-Paris next year.
  • Tax guy. Taxes are always stressful for me, but I’m also completely squared-away.
  • Built another WordPress plugin to handle management of future 101 Things in 1001 Days.

Blockers

  • Training for the DAMN and for Paris-Brest-Paris was massively time-consuming, but not unexpected, either.
  • Made the mistake of installing Civ 6 on the Switch 2 and that sucked-up a ton of time. Stupid of me.
  • TV! Holy shit, the new seasons of Scrubs, For All Mankind, and Daredevil, were a bit of a time-suck because they’re all really good.

Lessons Learned

  • Not sure I learned anything this month other than the PCAP stuff.
