Summer is always crazy, particularly when you have kids. And a slew of concerts and bike events on the schedule. Coming into July, I had a pretty basic set of goals:
- Gravel Bike Mods
- Blast Through 101 Things
- Write Next 101 Things List
Gravel Bike Mods
The target this month was to get the gravel bike ready for the DAMN and other big-ticket events that are coming up. I got the suspension seatpost installed, the aerobar fit dialed-in, and the blips installed, so I’m feeling pretty good about where things are at. WIN.
Blast Through 101 Things
I got a few things done in July. Not as much as I’d like, mind you, but a few things. SORTA WIN.
Write Next 101 Things List
Hey, I got this done! It feels like cheating, because some of the items are ones I failed at or didn’t complete in the current 101 Things list. But it’s done, and I feel like it’s a more-realistic list than the previous one. So we’re good there. WIN.
Minor Accomplishments
- Helped Di build her new portfolio site. This was fun!

Blockers
- This site got hacked late in the month, and I had to spend a good chunk of time un-fucking the mess. Some zero-day exploit, the first on the WordPress core in a decade.
Lessons Learned
- Stay on top of those security updates, kids.
