August was the final full month before the conclusion of the 101 Things in 1001 Days, so I annticipated being eyeball deep in trying to get shit wrapped up. Thus, the plan was to get three things done:
- PCAP Certification
- Rebuild My Littlefoot Plugin
- Finish “Master Python” Syllabus
PCAP Certification
This did not happen. The month was too fucking crazy to even get to this. Maybe in September. FAIL.
Littlefoot Plugin
I had some severe issues with a plugin I call WP-Littlefoot, which is an implementation of a WordPress shortcode that uses BigfootJS to create nice little pop-up footnotes. I got the Javascript library re-done, and I need to implement it in a WP shell next. Pretty excited. PARTIAL WIN.
Master Python
I’m calling this done. Between all the work I’ve been doing at the office, hobby pursuits, and having a good guide to mastery (syllabus), I did work through this mess. I’m pretty pleased about it. WIN.
Minor Accomplishments
- Knocked off a few bucket-list concerts: Public Enemy, Guns N’ Roses, and Weird Al.
Reading
Had a productive month between the book covers. I almost bailed on The Rise of Endymion — there were parts of it that made me feel more than a bit icky — but otherwise, I was ripping through books left and right this month.
Blockers
- Prepping kids for school burned up a bunch of time.
Lessons Learned
Summers are busy, especially August. Getting anything of significant substance is really fucking hard.
