Quarterly 101 Things Update: March 2025

I’m a little late in posting this, but that’s because there’s a lot going on here, mostly related to item #2 below in the Completed section.

Completed

2. Buy a house! For the story, you can read my post from February re: productivity/accomplishments. That said, we’ve got a closing date set for April, and we’re going to start moving in immediately thereafter. Expect my next quarterly update to contain a few completed items in the household category. I’m pretty excited, to be honest.

13. Figure out the tool storage issue. I did my research, I identified a solution, and I’ll be picking it up on the weekend we move into the new place. It should contain damn near every tool I need for working on my own bikes.

42. Exercise at least 3x/week for 52 weeks. (52/52) I gotta admit, some weeks it was a struggle to even get this done, but I did it. I’ve lost weight, I’ve increased muscle mass, and I’m generally a lot healthier than I was. My cholesterol and triglycerides are way down (see previous completions). And generally things are awesome. This is a habit I am going to try very hard to keep rolling with.

In-Progress

20. Build the Scoutreads site. This is ongoing and will be for awhile. I’ve got my models built and I’m harvesting data to populate the site.

21. Get at least two certifications. (1/2). This quarter, I took and passed the PCEP1 test. It was ridiculously easy. I’m moving on to the PCAP next. Hoping to have that one done by the end of the year.

23. Get the danbailey.dev website up and running. I started this, but it’s been laying fallow for a couple of months. I need to get back to getting this done.

43. Two new tattoos. (0/2). I finally figured out what I’m going to do for my next one — it’ll be a word in Heptapod B from Arrival.

45. Be able to do 50 push-ups without stopping. Been working on push-ups.

61. Read at least 150 books. (64/150). This is ongoing, as always. I’m not going to update my count until the end of the year as it would require me to keep track of too many things while I’m trying to get a million other tasks completed.

75. Do at least six Udemy courses. (3/6). I blasted through the 4-hour prep course for the PCEP certification, WordPress Gutenberg Block Development with React JS and PHP, and Intro to C#/.NET and I’m currently in a course on Typescript. So I expect by my next update, I’ll be pretty close to having this completed.

77. Master Python. I feel like I’ve gotten a lot closer to finishing this task. I love Python — I find it elegant, powerful, and extremely useful. The new job I just got will have me working with the Django and Flask (Quart, actually) libraries quite a bit. I’m excited. I’d like to finish the PCAP certification, build a few things, and contribute to an open source project or two before I call myself good here.
